Sister Act Theatre Trip

This year we took Embody Dance members aged 10-85 years to the Birmingham Hippodrome to watch Sister Act. It was some of the teenagers first trip EVER to the Theatre and most of our Mature Movers first trip to the Theatre since COVID.

We were all nervous but going as an Embody Family meant we had a great time, and everyone experienced the amazing show together. It was amazing to take many generations to the theatre together and watch the all ages interact with each other on the coach journey and in the audience.

Sharing the Light

Performance Experience and unique collaborations with Imagineer Productions, DUNDU Light and Nuneaton and Bedworth Town Centres Network.

Embody dancers worked intensively over October Half Term to create a dance piece that was performed in Nuneaton Town Centre in the dark, alongside a 5-Metre-Tall DUNDU Light Puppet.

It was the most amazing experience for all the dancers aged 10-14 – which included a dancer with Downs Syndrome and a dancer with Sensory Processing Disorder.

By working together towards the performance, dancers developed a sense of unity, learning to trust and rely on each other, and building lasting friendships within the Embody Dance community.

Butterfly Mind – Transformational Mental Health Day

Myself and the Embody Dance Team have seen a decline in our dancers self-confidence since the pandemic and we had lots of parents express to us issues surrounding mental health.

To help the students we enlisted the help of Kim Rogers from the Butterfly Mind.

Kim came into Embody Dance for an Inspirational Day for our pre-teens and teens to promote mental health and wellbeing. The sessions included 3 dancers with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

We learned so much from grounding techniques, how to banish our negative gremlins and an amazing dance to show our emotions.

Some dancers cried, but we learnt that crying is ok.

All of the dancers went home with a 21-day Wellness Journal and a heap of tools to help them for many years to come. It was such a pleasure to witness the dancers transform throughout the day and become calmer and more confident in their own skin, everything we believe in at Embody Dance.
